Groups of individuals encountering one another provides a particular kind of personal development and healing process. The theme of each session is developed by the group members within each session, this will allow the group to meet the needs of its members. Being in a group allows members to learn to express feelings, needs and explore experiences. Such interactions within a group provides members with an opportunity to explore new ways of expressing themselves and learning more ways to be with other, this learning can lead to more satisfying, nurturing relationships.
Of course coming along to a group maybe daunting and the Time Being Women Group devotes time to welcome new members. Issues are raised and experience shared in what we hope will be an atmosphere of openness and mutual trust. However, conflict does occurs in groups and feelings may become hurt. Group members in training or in practice usually have the support of a personal counsellor and/or supervisor. You may come away from a group session feeling distressed or confused, happy or energised, this is part of the process of being in a group.
